Memories Across Distance asks first-generation* immigrants to share
what they remember and what they’ve forgotten about their home
countries. It is a place to connect through both remembrance and loss,
but also to recognize differences across experiences.
At the same time, Memories Across Distance reminds us that as much as
we hold onto our memories, forgetting is inevitable. Unless we
actively try to "refresh" our memories, eventually they will all fade
away.
* First-generation is defined here as people who were born in one
country and migrated to another.
